Thanksgiving remembered

We all had fun playing with Maggie's PlayDough

So I know by this time Thanksgiving is long and gone and most of us have already forgotten about the day. I had been wanting to blog about the day for a while, but just never got around to it, so here we go :)

Maggie being Very Careful to push the tower of blocks around the house
Last year (2010), Thanksgiving was very different for me. I was in South Dakota at the time and was hosting the holiday at our house. Joel's family was very helpful, and thank goodness they were. At that point, I had only been married for a few months and was not so keen on my cooking skills yet, nor did I have a lot of supplies I needed. Bethany was a huge help, and even made the turkey that year. Joel's brother and his wife stayed with us for a few days to celebrate Thanksgiving. My mom sent me some linens last minute because they were no where to be found, for whatever reason, in the month of November in South Dakota! It was a fun time and a great experience, but one so very different than all the other Thanksgivings I remember.

This year's (2011) Thanksgiving was also very different than all the others. Joel and I were back in Kentucky, but instead of spending the day at my aunt's house, we instead spent it at my cousin's. For as long as I've known her, she has loved to cook and create new foods, so who else to host the dinner than her? The day was filled with her adventures of cooking her first turkey to making sure we had enough broth for the dumplins as well as Maggie's toys scattered throughout the house as she found ways to entertain herself for the afternoon. It was a wonderful time spent with family. I was able to capture a few of those moments on my camera.

Hanging out with dad, her favorite person in the house, although the cats did come in at a close second

(for whatever reason, when I load the pictures to go into the blog, some of them get turned the wrong way and I'm not able to turn them back. I liked the pictures too much to take them off. If you know how to fix it, please let me know)
